I recently injured my neck/trap when doing overhead press. The weight was a heavy for me, although not my max weight. I think my form was pretty good, although I started experimenting with moving my head back a little to press the weight straight up instead of in front of my face.
I think I just sprained something as my neck is getting better after some icing/heat/ibuprofen, but is this a move that I shouldn’t do? Do I need to warm-up more perhaps?
I’ve read on some weightlifting forums that some people just don’t like this move and that injury is common, but I’ve pressed for several years without incident until now.
Any experience on this type of thing?
