For the last couple weeks, I have been experiencing pain in the muscle just below the knee (on the outside of the leg) when performing any kind of squating exercise. I realize this is an incredibly broad question, but does anyone have any suggestions for things I should look at as potential causes?

I’d probably start immediately up/down stream of it.  So, IT band and the various calf muscles.

Inertia plays a mighty role in recovery, and an object at rest on a couch can stay there for a long time.

I was gonna make frosty’s suggestion as well. Whenever I’m having knee pain, it’s usually because I’ve neglected rolling my quads, IT band, and calves / soleus. Once I work on the knots for an couple of days, the knee pain and reduced range of motion are significantly minimized or eliminated.

Where do y’all get your foam rollers or do you make them yourself?

Compare to 330# in 2009

Warm up: two rounds of 10 air squats, 1 min hamstring stretch, 10 push-ups, 5 pull ups, 5 dips, 10 deep squats holding on to a poll for perfect form, 10 sit ups, 200 m run, 5 KTE.
