Hello All, so I recently sustained a back injury last Wednesday while squatting and deadlifting. After consulting a doctor and physiotherapist, the injury appears to be disc related. My physiotherapist advised I lay off any exercises that compress or excessively extend the spine so as to promote healing. Given that I have not been to the gym since Wed, are there any safe exercises I can do while simultaneously saving my back? I was also advised to abstain from any vascular breathing as it creates intra-abdominal pressure which can aggravate the problem further.
Also, considering the injury occurred during squatting, my physiotherapist asked to see my squat form. Apparently, I do the “butt wink” which causes strain on my lower back. What type of exercises could I do to remedy this problem?
