Also, does anybody have any guidance on my question from yesterday?:
I have an inclination, which I didn’t indulge today, to stand around with the bar (i.e., rest between reps (not sets)) when the number of reps in a set goes above about five. What’s the acceptable amount of time between reps (I would expect this to be about five seconds or so)? Does it matter as long as I don’t sit down the bar? Thanks for the advice.
I’ve never heard of a set amount of time, but certainly there is a point at which things get a bit sketchy. Taking a 5 second break after rep 5 seems ok. Taking something like a 50 second break I think defeats the purpose of the prescribed set. It also depends on which set you’re on. If you’re needing a large break between reps on your first set, you might be going too heavy and you’ll want to adjust. If you take a large break on your last set, then your exploring your limits and all is good.
