FRIDAY 130712

155 pound Squat Clean and Jerk, 30 reps

The barbell goes from ground to overhead, passing through a front squat in which the crease of the hip passes below the height of the kneecap. The finish position is with the arms, hips and knees fully extended, arms overhead, with at least a portion of the ear visible in front of the arm. Dropping the barbell is acceptable.

At Brand X the overhead position would be defined by the position of the barbell in relation to the body, not the head position.

Rest day today.

Have been on a three day vacation trip. A lot of walking, at least 5-10 km a day.

95 pound Squat Clean and Jerk, 30 reps
Tough one this one. 8:06.

Smashed out the first 10 quite quickly. Then it slowed right down. Form was pretty good though: fast elbows, deep squat. Started with standard jerks, as I tired I found split jerk easier so switched.

Tabata Row for total distance = 946.  (PR 1051)

Followed by Deadlifts.

reps of 3 working up from 30 to 110Kg, 1 rep @ 130 Kg, failed at 140Kg.
Going to try and work on 5 x 5 @ 100Kg.  Too low or too high?  Thoughts please.

First time doing this WOD: scaled to 75# in 8:56.
Ran 1.15 to gym, ran 1.15 home in wobbly way.
Cranked out 10 then had to do it in quick sets of 2, then sucked it up a little and finished with quick sets of 3 until I hit the 30.
I think I really need work on pressing things overhead, and pull ups too. Those seem to be my weakest movements.

Will do 30:00 spin cycling later to loosen up.

Pack lite:
15-12-9 reps of:
185 pound Deadlift
95 pound Overhead squat

4:54

“Overscaled” this one.  I’ve had a lingering back issue for months now and once in a while it bothers me enough to scale back or not work out of a day or two.  Today it was bothering me so I scaled weight and reps down.  Probably overdid it on the scaling, but better safe than sorry I guess.  Will do Diane on Monday and try to get a little less behind the main page WOD..

Fill it up again! Fill it up again! Once it hits your lips, it tastes so good!—Frank the Tank

As-fast-as-possible always carries a requirement of “with proper form and full range-of-motion”.  Many people forget this and I see people at my affiliate who cheat movements just to get a few seconds faster on a WOD.  Do you know what they won for their awesome time?  Nothing.—tulatel

Friday, July 12, 2013- Cross Fit Total

Back Squat, 1 Rep
Press, 1 Rep
Dead Lift, 1 Rep

Back Squat: 245, Press: 115, Dead Lift: 245
Total: 605

Dropped down since last time but I am taking into consideration that I am just back from a 2 day stay in the hospital so I am not going to be hard on myself. I just wanted to push it a little but leave some in the tank. My priority was to be sound to work out tomorrow not how much weight was on the bar.
