Every one needs to snatch so today everyone is a Big Dawg.  Lots of Vids on how to do this on the CrossFit Journal.  http://journal.crossfit.com

Morning all, This used to be my absolute favorite lift . Not so sure I can perform it anymore , maybe a Power Snatcn now , It is a Fun and challenging lift which took me years to develop the technique.[vimeo]http://vimeo.com/74492512[/vimeo]  Video is my heaviest Snatch in 2005 .Heres another video of my wife just starting Snatch training at Coach Burgeners . AKA , Mikes Gym in 2000. We both learned a great deal from him about training the Olympic lifts. Mike is one of the hardest working and most generous people I have ever met.[vimeo]http://vimeo.com/74498660[/vimeo]

After lots of shorter stuff over the last month or two it was time to go long. Speal v. Khalipa was the medicine today

As a prelim worked up to a heavyish triple GTOH at 185 then got after it

Finished the eights at around 16 then the nine rep round of GTOH lasted till 20 mins then took nearly two mins for a round of Cindy!!  Rested a minute than got after the last round to finish in 25:24. Obviously a horrible lack of character in the nine’s but attacked it pretty well to finish.

Looking forward to starting cycle two tomorrow.

Cheers, kempie

It’s awesome that you and your wife got to work with Coach Burgener, and GREAT videos you shared today. Thanks for the motivation!
I’m definitely going to use today as skills practice and I’m looking forward to it. I’ll report back on how it goes.

Snatch 1-1-1-1-1-1-1 reps

Warm-up:

7x 45
7x 60
5x 70
5x 80
5x 90

100-105-115-120-125-130-135(F)

130 was kinda ugly.  Seeing as how I didn’t make a new PR today, I probably need to go lighter and work technique next time.

Thanks Glorybelle, We enjoyed the times we went down there. The Wife even did an Olympic lifting competition once at the High school where Mike works. Skill practice sounds good. The snatch takes a lot of practice to become proficient at. It took me a year doing 2 snatch training sessions a week using Coach Bs training schedule to become comfortable with the lift. Speed , timing and flexibility are the key components to being successful, meaning, practicing the lift on a weekly basis. Have a great weekend Glorybelle grin

Warm Up

Squat Clean
185-190-195-200-205-210f-210f

Split Jerk
195-200-205-210-215-220-225f-225

Snatch
135-140-145-150-155-160f-160f

Okay after a crazy weekend thought I would catch up today. Have not done heavy squat cleans since hamstring separation almost a year ago so 205 was my PR last fall so I am ok with that. Snatches where do I start it took me forever to feel comfortable getting under bar I have lost some of that comfort it showed today. I am pausing too long which is lack of practice on this lift.  So note to self. Everyday I will warm up with practicing snatches.

Have a great day everyone.
