I got a new to,y a 55# kettlebell.  I thought at first it was going to be too heavy (first time I’ve really used a kb), but I can already snatch it right handed for reps.  Swings and Sumo High Pulls aren’t a problem.  My guess is because the movement seems so similar to throwing weight Over Bar, and a keg toss, both of which I do pretty often in contests.

New avatar in honor of the highland games Andrew. This was my 1st competition . I was competing Novice at the time. It was more fun competing with the youngsters than 40 + age group. At the time I was 47. Olympic lifting played a big role in winning almost all the events that day.Even got a nice little Sgian Dubh for overall win. That was 2004. I’ve been a fan ever since.

SWOD:
Clean &  Jerk 1x3 (95, 115, 120)
Snatch 1x3 (95, 100, 115)

WOD
Pack
Three rounds for time of: 12 mins
3 Strict handstand push-ups or 10 strict dumbbell shoulder press
6 Strict ring dips or 15 strict bar dips
9 Strict push-ups or 20 roll up push ups
12 Strict pull-ups or Assisted pull ups

I was going to give up on the oly lifts because I am doing them on my own with no trainer but I thought, well I have been doing CF since 2009 on my own so what the hell, why not oly lifts too. I will just watch lots of vidieo and post lifts for critique here. I really enjoy doing them and I think they are really going to help me with my goals of fitness. Have a good day everyone. Or good night in my case.

5 rounds in 23:23
used 20# dumbbells, did power cleans prior to jerk
my last 400 was more of a brisk jog

That was ROUGH!

Someone on the main site said they skipped the run because running is not a functional movement. I can’t figure out if that’s just a troll comment or if it’s true?
Running is pretty much walking, just faster and with a bit more impact. I think it’s a movement our bodies are meant to do (not necessarily over long distances).

Anyway, had NO issues with the today. Yay!

Thanks David, I think its more of a short attention Span. You know, That was fun whats next?LOL!  I love experiencing Life, I hate being a spectator and watching others have the fun, I want to be a participant in evertything I take an interest in, I also believe if one does something they should do it right.. Life’s to short to have it any other way. Thanks for the kind words David. I like seeing pictures of you and the kids and Wife. I respect a Man who has his priorities straight.

Hey Don ,Watching Videos and emailing Coach B got me through. It can be done. Shoot lots and lots of Video of yourself and analyze it after each set. I will always hold the opinion that one should focus on the Olympic lifts solely. I believe training with broad a spectrum of movements can adversely effect ones ability to perfect the lifts(  Yes I know I’m in trouble for saying that, I hear the cursing now). That’s why I quit benching for 5 years while I did the Oly lifts. My shoulders weren’t flexible enough if I did both.Just my personal opinion. Good Luck Don and thanks for your Service.
