Hey y’all,

Got my “mastering the zone” at half price books and figured out my body fat (with the wrist/waist calc), and came to the conclusion I’m a 5 blocker.

So I made a zone meal tonight . . .

That’s a serious lotta food on the plate:

grilled rosemary chicken 5 oz. 5 blocks

3 cups broccoli (used the raw measurement, then cooked it, I’m sure it was down to 2.5 cups after that) Salad of 2 tomatoes, 1/2 cup chickpeas 5 blocks

2 teaspoons of the zone salad dressing (1 to 2 ratio olive oil to vinegar) then 4.5 teaspoons of sliced almonds.  5 fat blocks . . .

Um, does that sound right or am I being overly generous about how much I exercise? (3-5 crossfit workouts a week, + up to an hour and a half of running in addition)

TP, so what is your total for the day? That’s 15 blks without the two snacks.
Usually you would figure the total for the day then divide that out throughout the day.

Ex: I do 18 blks. 4 blk breakfast, 2 blk snack, 5 blk lunch, 2 blk snack and 5 blk dinner= 18

Big D,

I calculated my total at 17 blocks.

I must have gotten confused on how many you get during each meal then.

I thought if I had a 5 block meal, that meant five blocks each protein, carb, fat.

Are you saying that I should have 5 blocks total each meal?  ex: 2 blocks protein, 2 carb, 1 fat?

TP

Everything I’ve read says you have it right TP and I’m pretty sure BigD is saying the same thing.
5 blocks = 5 of everything.

So your breakdown is 3 x 5 block meals and 2 x 1 block snacks, or 1 x 2 block snack?

Exactly, 3 x 5 block meals and 2 1 block snacks.  And I’ll be right back on it, as soon as the stomach virus leaves my household.

Only the dog didn’t get it.

Heh,
I was walking out of a mall a little way behind a lady and her small son and with no warning or time to smother it in any way, sneezed. The lady covered her son’s mouth and hussled him off to the side away from me and I nearly started laughing.

All the kids I know don’t get diseases from adults, they give them to us. Mobile miniature germ warfare laboratories most of them. :D

I’ll probably get everybody jumping down my throat explaining what a good parent she was being, but it was funny, honest!

TP you got it right. I just thought a 1blk snack was a bit light., but the zone is made to custom fit your needs. If you find you need more blks for snack then take away one from a meal. That’a what makes it so cool.

Big D,

I’ll experiment, for sure.  It may be easier to get the 4 blocks down and 2 at snacks, rather than 5/1.  (or more specifically, 3 4block meals, a 2 block snack and a one block snack).

Thanks for the feedback!

TP

Heh, if that kind of germophobia is considered good parenting, I must be doing something wrong. Kids get sick, and I doubt anything we try to do will have any effect on their internal biochemical labs. I laugh shamelessly at parents who do things like that LOL
